Join The Murder One Festival on Facebook Live where bestseller Jane Casey, will be in conversation with award-winning author, Denise Mina, discussing her latest novel, The Less Dead (Harvill Secker). The Less Dead is a crime novel told through the lens of identity, as main character Margo suddenly finds herself attempting to solve the murder of a birth mother she never met. Denise is the author of the Garnethill trilogy, the Paddy Meehan series, and the Alex Morrow series. She has won the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award twice, and was inducted into the Crime Writers’ Association Hall of Fame in 2014. Denise has also written plays and graphic novels, and presented television and radio programmes.

Louise O’Neill in Conversation with Dil Wickremasinghe

Join author Louise O’Neill in conversation with journalist and broadcaster Dil Wickremasinghe in the beautiful setting of the National Library of Ireland. Dil will be talking to Louise about her thrilling new novel, After the Silence (Hachette Ireland), a heart-pounding whodunnit set in an isolated coastal community. Louise will discuss what motivated her to write her new book. She will also talk to Dil about her other novels (Only Ever YoursThe Surface BreaksAlmost Love and the bestselling Asking For It) and her interest in crime fiction.

The Murder One Festival invites you to celebrate the ever-expanding Irish crime scene with this panel discussion. ‘Killing for a Living’ features some of Ireland’s top authors who launched in lockdown, including creator of the Inishowen Mysteries Andrea CarterLiz Nugent author of award-winning Lying in Wait (Gallery/Scout Press) and Our Little Cruelties (Penguin Ireland); New York Times bestseller Brian McGilloway; and Sunday Times bestselling, multi-award winning, author of the Maeve Kerrigan series, Jane Casey. This lively discussion will be exploring their opening pages, what makes their characters tick, and the challenges of the genre, whether it’s a series or standalone. This event will be chaired by Catherine Ryan Howard, internationally bestselling crime writer from Cork who has been shortlisted for the Edgar Award for Best Novel, the CWA John Creasey/New Blood Dagger Award and Irish Crime Novel of the Year.
